Despite taking place the night after a storm TV Triangle hosted a successful TV Meets Tech event at iBurbia Studios for London Tech Week. Intended to be a sampler of the kind of innovation that the TV industry is inspiring, the event allowed a combination of small start-up companies and larger companies show off the new thinking about the future of TV.
The TV Meets Tech Event showcased 10 companies within the TV industry’s impact on digital tech innovation in the UK. It highlighted how the TV industry is developing a unique relationship with the tech/digital start up community.
iBurbia Studios was a fantastic host providing administrative and infrastructure support to the exhibitors at the event as well as providing technical assistance. iBurbia also provided a huge range of set-top boxes, smart TV screens and dongles for the exhibitors to use to best display there TV tech. Making use of the live services at iBurbia Studios, also the Sky Q box was demonstrated and analysed by Matthew Walters from Decipher.
Visitors included press, delegates from the TV industry as well as members of Irish Chamber of Tipperary and Irish tech sector. Chair of TV Triangle Nigel Walley said at the event; “the great thing is that the TV industry is putting a stake in the ground around tech innovation. It is claiming a place as a primary driver of innovation particularly around video and data. This event just highlights the industry’s central role”.

TV Triangle held the event at iBurbia's Studios in Chiswick, where exhibitors and attendees were able to get hands on with the latest internet connected TVs and devices with live demos. Exhibitors on the day included:

Synapse TV:David Cutts and his team displayed their new system for dynamically ad inserting TV ads into DTT (Freeview) channels at the TV set. Similar to Sky AdSmart but for Freeview devices. Synapse TV also enables broadcasters and media owners to cost-effectively launch channels on Freeview HD, the UK's largest television platform, using the internet as the delivery mechanism.
MyLiveGuard's white labelled OTT software turns a TV, Set Top Box, Tablet or Games Console into a ‘smart home hub’. The in home device runs MyLiveGuard integrated Home Automation, Home CCTV & Home Security software and connects via cloud servers to allow home owners to interact with their home using their iPhone/Android smartphones. This offers a new use case to run Over the Top (OTT) on existing devices and allows Hardware providers, Service Providers, Retailers, Insurers and Utilities to rapidly launch a smart home/home automation solution into the market.
